Taken over by the El Cerrito Natural Grocery, the adjacent 7000 sq. ft. former paint store was in dire need of a top to bottom rehab prior to the proposed construction of their Prepared Food Annex. The two structures were architecturally bridged by a 3500 sq. ft.steel solar panel trellis, and new interior moment frames and shotcrete installed for seismic safety. The sleek new storefront system, both front and back, creates a balanced contrast with the façades cladded in reclaimed and custom-milled Western Red Cedar for this community gathering spot in the heart of both the El Cerrito and Richmond Annex communities.
